@twitch6000 "Wow way to overlook what I said." look who talks... I wrote about home-dekstop use in my first comment and you came up with business-office usage of Linux... For simple home usage I'd bet all my money that shitty one password won't protect you from anything. The first security line is the user and if it's just as dumb as you then I agree the system is shitted. I'd not personalize this "talking" but oh well, what do you expect when you talk shit, nerdyboy.

@tofu336 Because anybody gives a shit about hacking your computer. YOU ARE NOT IMPORTANT.
-
@LTS1287 Using bleeding-edge packages and claiming to be "stable" is not really my idea of a good desktop OS for the average consumer.
Therefore, it gives Linux a bad name in the minds of the average consumer.

lulz ubuntu is the root source for producing morons like Rokalacs.
hey moron turn off your sudo and post your ip see how fast it gets compromise. now with another system turn sudo on and see the difference.
-
@Rokalacs Wow way to overlook what I said. Sudo is not only for protection, but for administrative use.
Here let me ask you this.
Would you want anyone to access your files in your buisness such as charts,income,etc..?
No I didn't think so.
See with sudo you can allow the user to still be in your network but limited to only what they should be doing.
Besides I thought it wasn't easy to hack Linux anyways ... Like all you Linux youth say.
Oh well continue using your shitting Distro
-
@twitch6000 Yes, just as you said, sudo does nothing. Do you seriously think that one little password will protect you from that stuff if anyone really wants to get into your system? You're the dumb here sir.
-
@Rokalacs Sudo does nothing? Is that what you just said ... wow you sir are stupid.
Sudo is a great program that makes it where no one can access your main files without the password. Without it you are wide open for attacks, getting any kind of malware, and getting hacked.
Sudo is also great for limiting what a user can do. (Which is always needed in a buisness).
You know I might dislike ubuntu, but atleast I know what I am talking about. Unlike you.

@accident777 You can do nearly everything with your so called double click except gaming. Failing at first time (with a shitty PC [all my laptop hardware got recognized perfectly]) and then giving up is just laughable. After using windows for at least 12-14 years it took about a week to get used to linux back then when ubuntu didn't even recognized NTFS partitions so I had to edit some files manually from a tutorial. Nowadays everything is fine except KDE. Try not to give up next time...

@twitch6000 You just fails so hard, I've shown ubuntu to some ppl I know who haven't even seen windows before and they liked it so much with the categorized menus (original gnome menus), ubuntu software center, etc (I got to get rid off that annoying password asking all the time, everyone just hates it and it protects you from nothing btw). After a week I've shown them windows and they were just like: omg where the f* is this and that, how do i do that. So yeah, ubuntu IS a user friendly distro.

@twitch6000: I'm fairly certain that most people can use it. I've got friends that have installed Ubuntu for their mothers and grandmothers. Linux isn't just for techies anymore. Being noob friendly brings more people to the Linux community, which in turn may lead to more support from manufacturers.
As for Canonical, I've heard complaints like that from Debian developers but afaik Ubuntu does give back just not in the way that Debian developers would like.
I'm gonna skip 9.10 and wait for 10.04 LTS
