If you watch closely you see strikes to the eyes and groin, suggesting that this isn't a sport like mma or full contact fighting. This is for self defence where once proficient you would improve you chances of surviving a sreet encounter by using what you call 'prememorized' techniques.

you know, you hardly see good flow from a master, but man, you are awesome!!!
the instruction is nice and slow, then speed up to see how the real time flow comes in!
Again, let me know if you ever come to san diego, california!!!
Your students are all blessed!!!

Have you ever see somebody stand still so you can do all those flashy movements? The answer is No! If somebody stands there cuz he s been hit, then just box his hand out to knock him out!

Do you know of any good websites that state the history of this art? Or books?

Is this system the same as Chuan Fa Kung fu

@paulus837 Dear Paulus, the techniques of kenpo should result in the attacker falling down. Re examine your approach and targeting to review the effects of the attack and see if the response shouldn't result in a knock out or a disabling result to a supporting leg. The drag up buckles are another variation of a possible balance disruption. And finally Form 5 of Kenpo is all about takedowns. You only have to 'peel the onion' of each technique to discover greater depths in your kenpo journey

@phillipkempo Brilliant demonstration , well done I love the take downs
which I find is lacking in Ed Parkers Kenpo
Now are any of the blocks based off of the Chinese Lee Choy or Choy lae fut

@SeanbMA I suppose there must be similarities as both are southern styles, however I have never really looked at choy lee fut. ( but will look later). Our system Incorporates Pangainoon-ryu & Chau Gar. Matayoshi kubudo is also taught
