Just some thoughts on using the Harbor Freight wet stone grinder to get an old Stanley plane back in shape. Also so comments on Tormek jigs.

  • Thanks for the information. Will all of the tormek jigs work with the HF tool rest? Are the other jig alternatives that might be less expensive than tormeks? HF is supposed to manufacture their own jigs at some point in the future.

  • So far as I know the Grizzly and Jet fixtures also share a common guide bar diameter. To date I haven't needed any other fixtures. I do most of my sharpening on the stones, this is just good for the initial grinds. It is also very nice for kitchen knives.

  • i was trying to buy that plane, you came in and dinged me out of the auction!

  • Nah, I don't think anyone even bid against me on that plane. It was poorly photographed and a gamble, but it has turned out to be a good plane.
