Although this video is "old", the basics are still the same. Watching this video has helped me tremendously with my arm swing/release. I still have a lot of work to do but think mechanics come first. I used a "conventional grip" for about 6 months this year so I could get my spare shooting better. I just recently got a finger tipped ball and increased my pinfall by 30. Still working on the approach.

dangerous curves article by gene j. kanak in us bowler mag spring 2010:
to properly impart rotation keep your hand firmly under ball and wrist locked straight or cupped. when ball is at bottom of swing your thumb should exit while wrist is still locked and fingers are beneath the equator of ball. from there rotate hand from 6 oclock (directly under ball) to 3 oclock. during and after release arm should remain straight as it continues up the target line and skywards.
This works!

See and doing are two different thing, I guess practice is what it's going to take.

nice video on how to release the bowl which I keep having problem with
It does take a lot of practice - especially the release. The best advice I could give is to avoid turning your wrist too early on your downswing - this will result in a loud bang when the ball hits the lane, and a slow, side-roll heavy rotation. The trick of a good release is to envision rolling the ball instead of throwing it - let the ball roll off your fingers and rotate your wrist while this is happening - your hand should finish with your thumb at 10 o clock and fingers at noon.
