Steve Muccio, executive director of PEOPLe, Inc., a peer-operated program in Upstate New York, describes working without coercion to help people with a mental illness or substance abuse disorder reclaim their lives and their dignities. He appeared at a conference sponsored by The Bridge in New York City, at the Columbia University School of Law, Nov. 20, 2009
I applaud Steve for having the insight to see that those of us with Mental Illness need to be treated just like everyone else. You learn by your mistakes, we learn by ours, that's how we all grow.

Mentally Ill people can help ourselves better than anyone. And, we can help persons who aren't mentally ill to understand issues they don't understand. We have a great ability to benefit many.
