Ellen Dodson, Healthcare Consultant from Massachusetts, plays the 1st movement of Chopin's Sonata in B minor in the finals of the 4th Boston International Piano Com[etition for Exceptional Amateurs
I think she's absolutely fantastic. I've had the pleasure of listening to her playing since birth. I'm admittedly biased (being her brother), but she plays with such emotion that I prefer her performances of famous music to those of other performers.
Very good piano sound. Tasteful, sensitive use of rubato. The considerable flexibility in tempo never loses continuity. I'd like to hear a gentler approach and greater delicacy in many parts, but the overall sound is satisfying even if it is a bit too robust.
She did not even memorize the piece.
