Only hours old, a clouded leopard cub takes its first drink from a bottle. Chai Li, a female clouded leopard at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, gave birth to a litter of two cubs Tuesday, June 14.

Chai Li was a new mom - and a young one at that. She was not very receptive to the cubs, wouldn't let them nurse, and was a little rough with them, according to Andy Goldfarb, one of the zookeepers. So, in the best interests of the babies, they are being well-cared for, 24/7, by the staff. The cubs, by the way, are just as adorable in person. Their eyes were just beginning to open when I saw them at their unveiling last Saturday morning at 9 a.m.. Ever so tiny!!

Is there a reason it has to be hand-fed instead of being kept with its mother?
