OMG! As a child in the late 70's, I remember my step-father often played a record of this guy. I never knew who it was though. I am surprised that some of the lyrics to this song stayed in my head. Especially after not hearing the song for well over 30 years. I googled some lyrics & found out it was Allan Sherman.

Laarge Daark Aardvark song anyone?

@kaizerzydeco Thanks for the info! I'm sure I picked up that it was recorded at a party from the back of the original album....

@joseph60us Actually, it was recorded in studio (the booklet that comes with the CD explains it). The thing about the party that's on the album cover is probably what he told his mother. I know my mother would rather tell her Hadassah ladies that it was recorded at a big, expensive Hollywood party than in a dingy recording studio with who-knows-what kind of people hanging around and, G-d forbid, nothing but McDonald's to eat, as if that chazzerei could even be called food!

This great track is off the album 'My Son the Folksinger' which was recorded at a party on August 6th, 1962, which incidentally is one day after Marylin Monroe's death.
