Talk about asylum seekers and refugees is seldom out of the news. But how often do we hear from those who have actually fled a country and made a new life in Australia? We spoke to 3 people who have all made the long journey here: Olga Horak fled post-war Czechoslovakia in the 40s; Hung Nguyen escaped communist-controlled Vietnam in the 80s and more recently Abdul Karim Hekmat sought a new life away from Taliban-controlled Afhganistan. Each story is different but on one level the experience is the same: of starting again, a long way from home.
