I have one and usually bring my cons home in a bucket after sluicing. Works great if you have the flow and wheel pitch at the correct angle. I'm thinking of taking the thing out on the next trip with me just to see how much I can produce. Some days ya just don't feel like hiking in a bunch of heavy this and that. I recommend a 12 mesh or 1/8. 1/4 mesh will kick out your fines unless there's a picker or nugget in there. They run for hours on a small motorcycle batt.
It is a very Awsome Machine. it is worth every penny to sit and watch or get back out a dig as it does it's job for you. One problem with this machine if you are sitting there watching it. You tend to grab the gold before it makes it to the hole. lol
It is not electrical tape, it is a rubber end cap on the copper tube that has a dozen tiny holes on the inside to squirt water onto the spiral shelf to wash off the lighter castings / dirt and allow only the black sand and gold to rise up into the center hole and into the cup in the back.
i have the desert fox,it's the same as the gold miner, maybe a little different.but i would not be with out mine.some material's,ok a blue bowl work's fine on.but for what i work,a wheel is the only thing that wil work here.
i think a good way to mesure how accurate it is.get like 10 bb's and put them in dirt with some watter (rpersenting just like how you get gold)then see if you have 10 clean bb's comeing out but this is just an opinion

Mind if I ask what the copper tube with the electrical tape over the end does, please? Thank you.
