His WWII memoir had me laughing as hard as the night in Saratoga in 1998 when I first read Shoulda Woulda Coulda by Dave Feldman (a horse trainer).
When I got to how the hundred soldiers were trying to load the massive tent onto a lorry, I literally had to stop reading, I was laughing so hard , it HURT!
No great compliment can be paid.
RIP, Spike. Sorry I never met ya.
