Waiting to Begin Again (Chapter 36) (Part two)

"Well, maybe she'd buy the rehearsal story."
"Right, well, either way, Nick, maybe it's time you and Kevin just got over this."
"You think it's that easy?!" he snapped suddenly. "If it was that easy, don't you think we, well, I can't speak for Kevin, but at least I would have done it already?! I can't just get over it! Trust me, I've tried." He looked away and at the ground, and I saw that he was close to crying.
"Okay, I'm sorry. I just hate seeing my little brother so miserable."
"Yeah, well, I'm not liking it much either."
"Is there anything I can do?" I asked desperately.
"No, thanks though. I think I just need to play some more, think some things out."
"Okay, I'll leave you to it then, but if there's anything I can do, if you wanna talk, let me know."
"Okay, thanks Joe."
Again I nodded and walked out. He too started playing again. I had managed to walk in on two of my brothers in crisis right after each other, and I wasn't able to help either of them. And what's worse was that it was all over the same girl, who also happened to be the girl I was coming to consider my best friend.

{Nick's P.O.V.}
"Nice job," I said to Miley, hugging her after we had run through our song. Don't get the wrong idea. We're not dating again, and neither of us is leaning in that direction either. Sure we had a kind of special connection, but we did date for 2 years. We were each other's first love, but we both knew we were better off as friends [A/N: I don't know what their relationship actually was at the point when she sang on the tour with them, but it works this way for the story. i also don't know for sure that they were each other's first love but whatever]
"Not so bad yourself," she responded.
"So you think you got it down or should we do it again?"
"Still the perfectionist," she said laughing. "I've got it, don't worry. Besides, I think if I don't take my dad to get some food soon, we may have a crisis on our hands."
She laughed, but I was embarrassed. "Sorry sir!" I called to Billy Ray.
"Not a problem, son!" he called back.
"So I guess we'll see you tomorrow," I said to Miley.
"Yeah, see you then Nick," she said kissing me on the cheek. "Noah, let's go!" she called to her sister who was off to the side talking and laughing with Frankie. They hugged goodbye, and then Noah went with Miley and their dad. Once they were gone, I looked over at Frankie and raised my eyebrow. He just turned red and ran off. I laughed a little as Joe and Kevin walked over to me.
"What's so funny?" Joe asked.
"Frankie and Noah."
"Aha," they said together.
"So what now?" I asked, taking the acoustic guitar off my shoulder and putting it on the stand by us.
"Well, if it's okay with you, we're gonna take a 10 minute break then come back, run Live to Party actually using the foam and then Much Better with the trampoline, just to make sure it's all good. Then we'll call it a night and get some rest," Kevin explained.
"All right, sounds good. See you in 10," I said and then walked to get water. Hayley was standing by the water bottles, so when I walked over, I said, "Hey."
"Hey." We both took a drink and then she added, "That song was really good."
"Oh thanks."
"So is that girl your girlfriend?" she asked casually.
