Yes. Wireless. LOL. Since multi-track recording was standard by the 1960s, it was easy for them to remove the studio vocals and have John sing the lead vocal "live" here on TV, but still have the studio backing vocals and instruments played on playback during the performance. Pretty common in the 60's and it gave the performance more of a live feel as opposed to total 100% lip syncing.
