Youth Off The Streets, a charity organization working with homeless youth across Australia for 20 years, commissioned a new advertising campaign challenging people to think carefully about the realities of life for young people on the street.
The campaign, developed by JWT Sydney, takes the point of view that no one knows the realities of street life better than homeless adults. And each execution features a selfless act from a Sydney homeless person -- a plea for us to help homeless youth.
In October and November of 2011, a small film and photography crew spent time on the streets of Sydney with people from a variety of backgrounds who, in some cases, had been abused and/or suffered substance addictions. Each person approached and filmed was treated with dignity, respect and sensitivity. They were asked to give their time but were offered food, drink and blankets from the Youth Off The Streets Street Walk programme.
Youth Off The Streets would like to thank Brian, Shorty, Pop, Graham and Linda for their time, compassion and empathy for Australia's homeless youth. And JWT Sydney, who developed the campaign pro bono and in collaboration with Exit Films, Pool Photography, Engine Post Production and Nylon Studios music and sound.
