I really like this piece. I actually have heard this many times before but I can't remember where from... I think it was from in a movie I watched in my childhood but I can't put my finger on where I have heard it before.

This is REALLY stunning playing! Just been listening to lots of different versions. Most of those I've sampled just seem to strangle the piece by trying to wring _every_ last _drop_ of the deepest emotion out of the piece, unable to resist the temptation to apply really obvious rubato three times in every bar! (Rubinstein is an honorable exception.) It's SUCH a sad piece, it really doesn't need such heavy-handed treatment! Just needs lots of sensitivity... which here it gets. Bravissimo!

@MCHEATH Kudos to your relative MCHEATH, whoever (s)he may be. That person can surely hear the ecoes of the great romantic tradition, so difficult to capture in our days.

had this in my playlist and havnt come back in a while. to the point where I had forgotten which one it was (I have several interpretations).
that was a blessing because I listened to it as if I was played by one if the greats.
and I was convinced. very well done.

That's a great rebuild. To my ears it sounds as good as any new Bluthner I've played. Beautiful playing as well.

As far as i know it is a 1937 7 foot or so Bluthner Grand bought my relatives Parents in 1939 - they learned the piano on and it has seen them through for the last 60 years - it has been rebuilt and is still a great piano. the items were recorded on a 2 track reel to reel with two vg mics - I tranferred them to cd and did the best I could.
