This was awful. I am so glad my friends Rita & Romeo & their family survived, as well as folks from Saleapaga at Fao Fao-these were the two places I stayed at on the beach-I did not get to know the people at Taufua-I only saw them when walking by. This was the most beautiful beach I have ever been to. What a horrible disaster. Thank God they had a mountain behind them to climb so not everybody died there-it looks hard to climb though! Glad it did not happen when I was there. SO SAD!

I spent an afternoon here two years ago and it was stunningly beautiful - one of the most lovely places I've been. It looked like a great place to visit and I took a pic of the Taufua sign, so I could remember the name and return at some point (I hadn't managed to). The lagoon was very beautiful too, one of the best places I've ever snorkeled.... so incredibly sad to see these images. RIP to everyone who died.
