Why do people just assume that if something is a law it is automatically justified? How is that any different than Islamic fundamentalists justifying killing infidels simply because the Qur'an says so? I don't think people should have to follow bullshit racist laws and that's all Chomsky is saying. Amazingly there are a lot of idiots these days who don't see any problem with double standards. They're racist and they don't even know it.

The problem stems from corrupt Mexican Government, which is tied to the hip with the corrupt US Government. Mexico is a rich nation with OIL, Minerals, Agriculture, social culture, yet they are living in a 3rd world standard - thus the reason for fleeing across the border. Close the border, don't hate the poor immigrant, and push to end corruption in the US and Mexican Government and all of us can get along; we can trade with each other and travel often within each of our countries.

they have absolutely no understanding how international capitalism functions, i.e. the effects of colonialism, the forced creation of an export economy, the mechanisms by which the US bulwarks a pro-US elite in third-world countries which it defends through finance imperialism and the CIA & military. They just think the third world is in the shape it's in because of racial inferiority or something ridiculous like that.

I think Chomsky set the bigot straight to a certain extent, at least presented her with some ideas she had never heard before. I don't think Chomsky did that great of a job explaining that "legality" is a worthless term when discussing morality. This video illustrated a common fault of the anti-immigrant people:
