This video is about how we cope with life-changing events. The 9/11 tragedy shocked the world and showed how world events affect everyone. Also brought to light is the cliche of looking at a glass half full or half empty. Rudy Abad, a successful Fil-Am from New York lost his wife, Marie Rose, on this tragic date. In the video, Rudy shares his last conversation with his wife and instead of wallowing in sorrow and hatred, he finds a new purpose, a new beginning by his involvement with Gawad Kalinga (GK). He honors her with a GK legacy village in her name.

The Abad's story has since been made into a movie, one story of a trilogy, in the GK movie Paraiso.

"Fifty families whose lives will change because my wife died... I am so so proud to be part of what is happening here..." - Rudy Abad

A life-changing event for Rudy, a life-changing event for 50 families. Likewise, the global movement of GK is changing the world, one family at a time. Is your glass half full or half empty? There is hope.

Join us, be part of the change we so desire:

  • It's very rarely and hard to find an American woman just like Marie Rose. I want to have someone just like Mary Rose who has a good heart for others

  • Taj Mahal is the monument of love built by an Indian widower in despair in the 17th century. This Tondo compound cannot equal the majestic Taj Mahal nor the Twin Towers but Rudy Abad enduring love for his 9-11 Rose can. Mabuhay ka, mahal kita is the perpetuation of love.

  • Thanks Rudy for being an inspiration to the world. Instead of blaming God for the misfortune that came into your life you have opted to find the real meaning of life. The life and death of your wife Marie Rose have continually touch our lives too. Your caring and unselfish attitude truly demonstrates the real Filipino spirit. I am sure many will come out of their shell and follow you.Mabuhay ka and I am very proud of you, The one who gives gets twice the happiness than the one who receives.
