Well, not ALL things, but many things. I'm sorry the quality is bad and my camera kept being weird and I wasn't entirely coherent. I did my best to flush out this complex subject in a coherent manner. Please let me know if you have questions, comments, or if you just want to talk about this. Also, please feel free to correct me if you feel that I was wrong about something or if you think I left out something.

If this left you confused but wanting more, read "Butch is a Noun" by S. Bear Bergman. I also HIGHLY recommend reading anything by Ivan Coyote, especially A Butch Roadmap (http://www.xtra.ca/public/National/A_butch_roadmap-7063.aspx).

  • This video is so insightful- if you haven't found your identity yet, it eventually finds you.

I'm 17, and just starting to figure things out for myself. You helped me so much, thank you.

  • You're very welcome. Good luck on your journey. Take your time trying to figure out who your are - you'll get there eventually. Take care.

  • Hello Julz...I'm Jackie from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

I just wanted to say that this was one of the best videos on this topic I ever saw. Thanks you. You're an interesting person for sure! All the best to you!

  • Hello, Jackie. Thanks for your comment and for your sub. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I feel bad that the quality was so poor, but at least the content is good. I hope all is well with you. Take care.

  • I am glad to see you are finding yourself. Each of us must travel our own journey. As each of us travels through our journey we learn more about ourselves and about the world that surrounds us.

  • Hey Aiden, thanks for the comment! By the way, I went back and watched your first video and I can't believe how much your voice has changed since then! You sound great!

  • Once agian another great video, your videos have gotten me to do a lot of soul searching as far as what I identify with. I know I have to just be true to myself, and do what ever I feel will help me reach that.

    *hugs*

  • I think most trans people and even butch frequently feel as though they are neither gender. To be honest I feel like both physically and mentally but at the same time I don't identify as anything specific. When I look in the mirror it just doesn't seem right to call me male but even worse to call me female because I'm ftm trans. So it's like; either I get to be physically male to match my brain or I am neither because without transitioning I feel like neither.

  • Thank you for clearing that up. For the longest time I just thought I was butch and then just recently realized by looking back all throughout my childhood I've acctually been transgender my whole life. But since I didn't understand what trans was or what it meant I just thought I was a "girl that like boys things." But in reality I was a boy that liked boys things and had reoccuring dreams that I was male. It took me 20 years to realize the difference!

  • Thanks this video was so helpful to me. I appreciate your point of view and sharing your own self exploration.

  • Butch is a gender expression, trans/ftm/man is a gender identity. You can be butch and identify as a woman or you can be butch and identify as a man or transman. The two things are not dependent on each other.

  • In this whole mess that is "gender-confusion" and with all the pain said mess causes me at times when I least expect it. Even 2 years after you put up this video.

    I liked, and favoured it.

And it's not because I agree with you, not because I think that you are right. Its because you say this one thing. Family.

That is what rips me to shreds. Good shreds for once. Hell yes. You are. No doubt in my mind whatsoever.

Thanks for this amazing statement. Be well, happy and loved.

  • OMG... my dear.... I relate almost exactly to your own presentation here, at this point in my life, however I prefer to use genderqueer...and not ftm, although I also thought about the fact that I should have been a boy since early on in my life (as far back as 6yrs old)... Thanks for this video... i have shared it on my FB. :)

  • you are a beautiful person

    <3 thank you

  • Julz's a wonderful video ans attitude, Thanks so very much for sharing, don't you just love the boxes and labels, as much as I hate them we do need them!!

    Hugs Peace and Brightest Blessings

    Rena

  • Sometimes I use the pronoun hy on paper or text so ppl know I am female and masculine but not male.

  • Butch is not only a gender, its not just related to sexuality either, I call myself FTM *and* butch. I'm a masculine, butch guy. Im not an effeminate FTM.
