In 2004 KJM was created by young visionary artist, Secada. Her mission, to enlighten and inspire audiences through inventive visual effects, untamed musical scores and ground breaking physical expression. For the past 15 years Secada has perfected her signature "Urban Roots" technique which is easily recognized for it's seamless fusion of African dance and Capoeira with an urban twist of Pop N' Lock, House, Vogue and Jungle dance. Unconventionally placed in a contemporary dance theater setting, KJM reminds us that "Contemporary dance" was never meant to be cliché. Accompanied by musical inspiration ranging from cutting edge IDM/Drum n' Bass to traditional live drumming, KJM always makes a lasting impression through their high-energy multimedia performances. Filled with stunning visual effects, couture costume design and tribal body paint KJM is as equally filling for the eyes as the soul and leaves the audience entranced by the mystical realm of the Junglist. Through the art of movement KJM aims to inspire cultural exchange, unity and respect for the traditional dance communities as well as reinventing the stereotype surrounding urban dance culture. KJM has performed and taught workshops throughout North and South America including the internationally acclaimed "Iberoamericano Theater Festival" in Bogotá, Columbia. Secada's work can also be seen in the Sugar Babes latest video "Ugly" and the world wide NIKE dance campaign for women.
