Meteorologist in Charge of the National Weather Service in Amarillo, Jose Garcia Jr., describes an upcoming Doppler Radar upgrade to be installed in the coming weeks that will give the Texas Panhandle a Dual-Polarization radar capable of creating more detailed information to better forecast weather and effectively utilize early warning systems. A tour inside the giant radar dome at the Weather Service shows the 28-foot tall radar dish.
