Not bad, the arrangement sounds a little like something from the "Tommy" period. RD's vocals would sound good enough to anyone who'd never heard the Andy Pratt version.
When I was a teenager I heard this once the DJ said the name but not who sang it ... I loved it and never heard it again. Before the days of instant technology you were screwed trying to track down a song. So here I am a couple dozen years later finding it on you tube ...what can I say ???
If you were in the Boston-Providence area listening to the radio during the summer of 1973, you'd absolutely know that Andy Pratt's original is far-far better!!
I'm surprised how many prefer this to Pratt's. I like Pratt's. But Daltrey is really right for it, too. Whoever said The rest of the Who should have done was right on. This could have been an epic who hit. Epic.
I love this song. I like both versions. Roger covered this well.

This isn't bad but too "forced" and hence not as good as Andy's.

I like both versions, both very good, perhaps I like Andy's a tad better, but both are very good.
