@rexeterna This conversation is supposed to be secret, and cypresses are associated with cemeteries - and silence as of the grave. Lusting after Elizabeth is now treason, punishable by death. Rodrigo has clearly had instructions to take Don Carlo elsewhere, since the son has been found wanting, and the king must remarry to produce an acceptable heir to the throne. This scene is one of Verdi's finest examples of the war between love and duty - and extravagant selfishness.

yes, with Alagna it was great chemistry, that Rodrigo was the best.

muy buen do de pecho

Two great opera singers together. Listen Cappuccilli and Bergonzi's performance this duet.

Not as much sheer chemistry as with Alagna but....AMAZING singing! And...well...HOT!!!!
Are there any more clips from this production?
