Yamato Kotoba are the ancient Japanese language words.
There are words based on Chinese Kanji (Kango) and words imported from other languages (Gairaigo).
Yamato kotoba are not loaned words but classical Japanese words.

This video from online Japanese school http://www.japonin.com/ focuses on a few Yamato kotoba adjectives.
