This is the opening track on John Lennon's album 'Imagine' and this is the 40th anniversary year of it's release.

It was recorded between 23 June -- 5 July 1971

The album was released on 9 September 1971 in the US and a month later on 8 October in the UK "Imagine" was issued as a single a month after the album in the United States.

When asked about the song in one of his last interviews, Lennon declared "Imagine" to be as good as anything he had written with the Beatles!

This song became a Lennon signature tune and was written as a plea for world peace

@Littlewolfie84 Admittedly, this would have been up in Nov 2009 were it not for a Dec 2009 shoot which we decided to incorporate in to the video. When that didn't work out, we cleared to use the illustrations seen in the final video along with a new shoot in Liverpool in December 2010. In all, three separate complete versions of this video exist in our archives.
