Thanks for your efforts to bring our golden memories back. I don't have words to describe my feelings. I moved out of Pakistan nearly 30 years ago. I miss Pakistan so much and through these memories I am reliving my past all over. This ghazal just goes through my heart. Waheed was and is just simply the best.

Ehsaaan Danish, poet of this beutifull song, did not get full response of Urdu poetry lovers... otherwise I would name him as one of poets in Urdu who represents modesty with complete descenency.

Note:

Oriental College is a constituent college of University of the Punjab, Lahore.

The Great Sir Iqbal, afte having done his studies at Government College, Lahore, (now called Government College University), became a Professor of Arabic language at that Oriental College !!!!

Then, Sir Iqbal left for England for higher studies.

Hillary Clinton recently chose to address the students of Pakistan through a ceremoney held at the Government College.

Ehsan Danish was a labourer. According to that friend, "Ustaad Sahib" used to tell the story of his struggle and success. He worked as a labourer in building sector.

In this role, he painted the walls of Oriental College (Punjab University Lahore).Then, some decades later, a time came when, as an established poet and a recognized USTAD of Urdu poetry, HE WAS MADE A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE IN THAT VERY COLLEGE THAT APPROVED THE THESIS FOR Ph.D IN URDU LITERATURE !

This ghazal is by Ehsaan Danish. He was a self-made man, and a respected Urdu poet. I had the opportunity to know one of his "shagirds" in poetry (Zahoor Nazim of PTV Lahore, a great calligraphic artist and style-maker). He used to meet his Ustaad from time to time and then recount to us what he had said.

Mehdi Hassan Hassan has of course made this ghazal (or poem) eternal.
