dude you would love Kunming during the summer!!!!! that's my get away place from now on. Its so awesome.

  • @lordblazer I've been to both Shanghai and Beijing. Never been to SK or Japan. I prefer Beijing - cooler summers, nicer folk and the seat of 5,000yrs (not continuously I know) of culture & power.

Shanghai is Asia's party city. atleast to me.. sadly I am stuck in Kyushu. fortunately I live in kyushu I can take a cheap flight to either place :D I'm closer to Shanghai and Seoul than I am to Tokyo XD

Yea man its in Shanghai. Yaoming owns it.(spelled his name wrong).. BTW its in Shanghai. A city currently undergoing a technological revolution as well as an industrial revolution. Its a unique city. Where you will see the very poor, and the very rich. You will also see a vibrant middle class. Doesn't reflect most of China. Only 40% of the population are urban dwellers. Most live in villages. Even so the villages aren't as bad as other countries' rural areas.

not really. In China. Government doesn't get very much involved in what people do in everyday life. In fact China is like well a big NYC.. If you ain't making that paper then why are you in China? I dunno but I spend a lot of time in China btw.

  • Poltically America is not "fucked", it is just rather a dying superpower. As globalisation sets in the US will not be able to exert the same influence as it used to as Russia, China, India , and Brazil will soon become superpowers as well. The US needs a socialist drive, 3 of the 4 future superpowers listed are socialist themselves. The US will remain unmatched for along time in many areas, but unchecked Capitalism can not be allowed and corportations and bankers need to be taught a lesson.

  • Nordic Socialism is a very interesting exemption you are correct, but Cuba, Vietnam, etc. do not portary real socialism. Hong Kong's per capita means nothing as it is not a country but just an independent political district. Socialist countries of the Nordic sort also have the highest qualities of life, also boasting the best education as well as free healthcare for all.

  • Notice though that this trend is mostly restricted to Scandinavia and economists from both ends are still having a hard time figuring out why. In terms of income per capita, typical socialist countries like Vietnam, Cuba, and many Eastern European countries fall to the bottom, and free market based countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, Ireland, Switzerland, etc. still dominate. Hong Kong, as the most capitalistic, has always topped the scandanavian countries so that must be factored in as well.

  • True, but I tend to attribute that to the fact that those countries not only have smaller populations but are more culturally homogeneous (which makes it easier for socialist policies to work), have higher resource to population ratios, and historical significance. Also important is that these countries economically are very capitalistic in important areas such property rights, monetary policy and freedom, competition barriers...sometimes they are even more capitalistic than the United States

  • If you consider per capita measure of strength socialist countries still win out, countries Like Norway, Denmark, and Finland all have higher per capitas than the US.
