A home energy checkup helps owners determine where their house is losing energy and money - and how such problems can be corrected to make the home more energy efficient. A professional technician - often called an energy auditor - can give your home a checkup. You can also do some of the steps yourself. Items shown here include checking for leaks, examining insulation, inspecting the furnace and ductwork, performing a blower door test and using an infrared camera.

50% of the heating and air conditioning system is the ducting system. If ducts are leaking your leaking money.

Hey! Thanks a lot for this helpful video. By the way, I notice many people keep on talking about Xobotano Home Energy (google it), but I'm not sure if it is good. Have you ever tried this alternative home energy called Xobotano Home Energy? I have heard many great things about it.

WOW, you pay yourself? You can live the rest of your life without a job! Just waste less energy and you could pay yourself even more, save that up and get rich! Awesome. Except I have a feeling you still pay multiple providers every month for resources and the idea of "paying" yourself is a stupid play on words that means "piss away less money than you were pissing away like an idiot before". When you start paying yourself and you don't pay anything for energy....let us know your secret!

You should try shutting off the electricity and propane (lol, the dumbest fuel to run a home on). See how much you save then, doesn't take too much intelligence to guess it will be far greater of a number than what your new appliances "saved" you. Don't use a blanket, clothes to keep warm, use propane, then blame your heater for using too much energy. Fucking tool. Wake up genious stop being a spoiled controlled environment pussy try living like most of your ancestors.

Thermal dynamics of the fact my body has evolved over centuries to live outdoors? Now people are in a health decline because they spend most of their time indoors. But not just indoors, but in thermostatically contolled environment that is controlled solely by them. I take it you are fat and out of shape, or are uncomfortable in the outdoor climate your family braved just 3-4 generations ago. Now you blame homes and furnaces for using energy, as if they control your 72 degree environment.

The fact you believe you saved that much money is ignoring that you didn't have to use that energy in the first place. More approprately you could say, I wasted a bunch of energy trying to keep myself "comfortable". Did your furnace save you that money? Or did the person running the thermostat cost you that much money to begin with? You are putting blame on a home/furnace/insulation when you and only you control the thermostat. Intelligent! I am concerned with spoiled people w/misplaced blame.
