the road operator communicates directly with a
driver by roadside to vehicle communication about traffic
information, roadworks, restrictions, instructions, advice
etc. Infrastructure-vehicle communication enhances the
operational integration of local traffic management and
in-car systems to improve safety, traffic efficiency and
helps to protect the environment.
Description of the Hazardous Situation
A road side unit provides information about a construction
zone to vehicles by broadcasting messages to vehicles in
the vicinity of the dangerous location. These messages
contain detailed information about the construction zone
allowing receiving systems in vehicles to warn the driver
about the dangerous spot and inform about location and
duration of the roadworks.
