27th April 2010. A song by a Dorset soldier who was killed after spending just six weeks in Afghanistan is being released to raise money for two army charities.
Rifleman Philip Allen, of Verwood, who joined the Army in April 2009, was killed by a roadside bomb near Sangin in Helmand on 7th November. The track More Time will be out on Friday 30th April and an album is due to be released later in the year. The songs were all recorded by the 20-year-old and stored on his laptop. Steve Saville, a family friend who is producing the album, said Rifleman Allen played all the instruments himself, including guitar, keyboard and drums.
