After serving 29 years as a nonviolent first-time offender, the most celebrated marijuana smuggler of the 70s talks for the very first time about bringing in multi-ton shipments of Colombian weed, the joint DEA-FBI investigation that took him down, his decades as a celebrity prisoner, and how hes putting his life back together by working with the marijuana-legalization movement.

  • bet he got welllllllllll high on his first joint after thirty dirty years!

  • You think there isn't weed in prison?

To me, the biggest underscore of the complete failure of the war on drugs is that fact that they can't even keep drugs out of prison.

If you can't make prohibition work in prison, then what does that say about the effectiveness of the war on drugs?

  • 30 years for pot? all that bull shit over a harmless plant.

  • It's absolutely ridiculous that this man did 30 years for marijauna. What a complete travesty. I don't care if he smuggled tons of it. Nobody should do that kind of time for a victimless crime that shouldn't even be illegal.

  • Sadly, govern-mental illness is the dominant characteristic of American drug policy, especially as it pertains to marijuana-an anti aging drug that kills cancer and who's activity is found in mother's milk. Next thing we know the cannabinoid deficient people running our country will be arresting nursing mothers for giving their infants psychoactive cannabinoids and perhaps all women for walking around with paraphernalia

  • It was good talking with Robert at the S.F. Medical Cannabis Cup. I can only imagine the stress placed upon this man by the feds, Celebrity prisoner indeed. I'm glad he is sharing his experiences with us. and looking forward to reading the complete story in the book. Thanks again Robert, for telling us your story.

  • @HIGHTIMESPresents Lol, its easier to find drugs in prison than it is to find them on the street. Just more expensive. Fact.
