An unique film newsreel report on one of Britain's largest civil defence exercises, stages in Hackney, London, to test the preparednesses of the Civil Defence Corps.
They really took Civil Defence seriously back then. The only thing you'd find 700 volunteers doing today is ringing you up during dinner to try and elicet donations to political campaigns.
I was in Civil Defence in the 1960s be certain but judging by the uniforms and equipment this would have been early 60s or late 50s.
