HMS Surprise firing a carronade

HMS Surprise exercising a carronade. Carronade is fired using a model aircraft glow plug in the breach end of the piece. Flash paper is loaded first, then a measure of AAA black powder, followed with a 1/2 inch piece of 3/8 diameter backer rod. ABSOLUTELY NO SOLID SHOT IS EVER USED. The whole port side of the ship will be rigged with carronades over the winter so next spring when we gather for another fleet sail, plenty of smoke will fill the air when frigate Surprise meets the brig Syren.

@BassDudeBear Ah, I missed this. I thought you knew the same guy I know by the name of Russell. The model of the captain on my ship is Jack Aubrey who of course is fictitional but played by Mr. Crowe. He did a great job in Master and Commander.
