No it's cause in Chinese you say your last name first, so his first name is actually ming, but in chinese pronounced yao ming.

Man, u guys need to take it easy. This is just another great clip spoof by MadTV & Bobby Lee. I'm chinese too & I find this hilariously entertaining. I personally think that being labelled a freak for a basketball player isn't a bad thing at all. How many have said that for the likes of Shaq, Lebron & Dwight Howard. who are all freaks in their own right. Yao Ming is there on top with the very best of them.
