Famous Scientists Who Believed In God - And Their Thoughts (1500 - 1900ish)

I am NOT trying to appeal to the existence of God through authority.
I am NOT implying that atheists have not made major contributions to science.
I am NOT implying that only Jews or Christians have made major contributions to science.

What I AM trying to do is refute the notion perpetuated by fundamentalist atheists that religion is the antithesis of science, or that logic, reasoning, and rationality is the antithesis of religion. I am frankly disturbed by people like Richard Dawkins who suggest that religion teaches people to not want to understand the world, when history has demonstrated time and again people who felt that one of the most meaningful means of worship was through understanding His creation.

*Charles Darwin for many years was a devout Christian who was even at one point considering the order of priesthood. While his evolutionary theory developed while he was a theist, his later agnosticism later in life had much more to do with the death of his favourite daughter than with anything related to his knowledge of the natural world. Hence, I decided to include him because his Christian background did not deter him from developing the most important theory in biology. As well, its simply a beautiful quote.

If you have any knowledge of my video content elsewhere, you would know that I don't hold any prejudical views against Muslims, and have in fact defended Muslims when fair to do so. I didn't exclude Alhazen because he was Muslim. I simply overlooked / forgot about him. If I ever make a second edition to this video, I will be sure to include him for his meritous work on optics, etc.

@7777reasons I find the alternate version of history the New Atheists have constructed, and the complete paranoia and hystericism of their anti-theism, really alarming. They've cocooned themselves with their own little intellectually inbred echo-chamber blogs and podcasts, and have implicitly rejected the idea that reasonable people can disagree. How can they consider the hosts of "mind viruses" to be their equal participants in a democracy?

@omgwtfhelpbbq If he is Muslim he worships Allah..Not God. Big difference. The Christian God is far from being anything like the Muslim Allah. The only similarity is that both are reffered to as 'a god". But God the Father is nothing like Allah the god.
