The World Bank has called for more transparency in the roads sector to improve the quality of work and speed up the implementation of projects. Visiting World Bank Vice-President Obiageli Ezekwesili said rampant corruption in the tendering process was frustrating efforts to alleviate poverty and boost economic growth. Obiageli was speaking during an inspection tour of World Bank funded projects among them the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and the expansion of the Athi River-Mlolongo-airport road junction.
