Right this is the 40th video of the classic playlist and I wanted to post something special for that.
And what's more special for such a celebration than an arrange of one of Meiling's themes? At least IMO... I think I already mentioned that Meiling is one of my ultimate favourite characters in Touhou...*scrolls back*...or maybe not... Oh well now it's official, I'm still unsure about, say my top 5 of Touhou characters but at least I'm pretty sure that Meiling is somewhere there! Sometimes I like one character more than others and then someone else...but let's say my top 5 list is quite constant in terms of who the characters are, but not in what order.^^
Contrary to Satori's themes and many others of these cases, it was the stage theme that grabbed much more attention than the actual boss theme here. But I mean, who could deny the sheer awesomeness of a theme like Chinese Tea? And as a result, the latter got quite a lot more arranges than Shanghai Alice of Meiji and gotta be honest with you guys, for the 40th video I didn't really plan to post just some arrange of Shanghai Alice, no I knew that I was going to post this arrange in particular.^^
Because hats off, I think Drop really brought out a sparkling and gorgeous arrange this time. I didn't know how to call the style...it's Folk for sure...probably with synth and other electronic elements in the background...but I'll leave it at that for now.
Point is, it's a pretty unique arrange; it's lively, quirky, folksy...yet very oriental like its kind of overshadowed original. Like I said, I love both Chinese Tea and Shanghai Alice of Meiji, but like it happened with most people I was charmed by Chinese Tea first before discovering the beauty of the actual boss theme. And guess what, this is probably my favourite arrange by Drop and my favourite arrange of Shanghai Alice so far! Love that kind of style, I wish there were more songs like that.
Oh yes and the picture was probably the best one I could find.^^ I tend to get mad at the lack of pics for some Touhou characters, especially for Meiling, so finding this was really a surprise. I hate how most of the Meiling pics show some mind of bodybuilder woman in stereotypical martial arts poses. I mean, isn't it possible to draw a beautiful or elegant picture of Meiling that does justice to her? Thank gawd I found this instead!D: It's so cute and heart-warming^^, I kept it for this arrange actually. There are quite a few Flandre with Meiling pics around and most of them are really cute. At least someone is nice to Meiling... You know, I hate all these China jokes, the "ROOM CLEANING STOP -*stabbed by Sakuya*" stuff and how she's not treated with the same respect as the other SDM characters, at least by the characters themselves.
She comes from China, a country that got kind of a bad reputation, if we take into account that Comiket and most of Touhou's franchise is settled in Japan. I'm not saying that it's my opinion, it's just how things are. So as a result Meiling was added as a joke character, even in UNL she isn't treated like for example a Sakuya or Remilia would be...and that's pretty sad IMO. I mean, it's always the elegant maid Sakuya and Meiling is just the joke character who gets stabbed by her, WTH is up with that? And I don't believe that she's "good for nothing", she's bad at danmaku but kicks your ass verbally with physical attacks. Overall, the fact that she was added as a character to make fun of as well as her Chinese heritage make her rather unique to me.
So why am I a fan of her? Well there's a lot to say, first of all she has GREAT theme songs, her design is beautiful and unique, her hair is really nice and like I said before, just the way she acts and how she stands out from other characters. I just think she's a lovely character and at least Flandre fanonically supports her.~

I know right?... There are SO MANY in game relevant and fan-base pop-culture things you could throw in there to mess around with peoples heads while there scrabbling about to get everything all written out on the higher difficulty's...
Like for Flans stage for example along with her usual expected insanity you could have a sentience that reads "The happy clown go's ran ran ru" to make people go WTF did I just wright!? and possibly distract them enough to lose a life... :P
