wow i can never remember that river looking so scary grew up three blocks from the swinging bridge I will miss it

I hear ya. I can't count how many times I crossed that bridge. Going to the swimming pool or to play baseball. When I heard it was gone, I hurried down to see for myself, it was around 11:pm the night before the crest, I was sure it was just a rumor. Was hoping anyway.

Scary stuff indeed. I remember the concern for the Main Street Bridge. Also remember leaving work early that day for fear of not being able to make it home due to all the bridge closings. Had to drive to Floyd and cross there. Thanks for sharing.

i wish the swinging bridge was still here i had so many memories on it and im only 14! the flood was fun to look at ... but it was horrible.. and it was really scary. :(
