Usually, I play this game in the afternoon or the evening. This time, I played it at the late hours, and, just as expected, the competition was a lot tougher.
Race #1
GCN Peach Beach
There was a rather eclectic bunch...The VRs of this room ranged significantly, with a me at the higher end of things. Doesn't mean that it's any easier though, since people here seemed to be pretty aggressive. "Stevo" bumped into me with a Star near the end of the first lap, and while I got out of the way to let him through, he pursued me anyway and apparently also rammed Wii-tard, who was in front of me. Everyone kicked their items into overdrive at the end of the race, which turned the normally idyllic and peaceful Peach beach into a war zone.
Race #2
GCN DK Mountain
Ah...so that's how you do the shortcut. I think I get it now. Now to figure out how to do it with the Jetsetter, my favorite vehicle in this game. The reason why I saved this race, however, was because someone near the back playing as Toad had tried to use the Lightning Bolt on me THREE TIMES in a row as I was going through the cannon. They somehow thought that I'd get caught and wind up falling, but whoever it was needs to get over Mario Kart 64's physics. All it did was make my lead even bigger. Not seen: They tried it yet again in DK's Jungle Parkway.
Race #3
GBA Bowser Castle 3
A lot of people in this room came from Japan, a lot more than the previous room. They also all seem to be using Karts, they all pick Random all the time, and they all play incredibly aggressively with high VRs. All the signs point to this being a clan, but I can't imagine how a clan joins up in an ordinary room...well, I guess one showed up and the others followed in. The main aggressor this time around was someone using Yoshi, who used every opportunity to bump into me. I at first thought it was a way of saying that I'm not welcome...but then I observed them giving each other the same treatment. I lucked out with the Golden Mushrooms near the end, and from then on was able to break out of the bottom ranks...though a bunch of them quit after this race.

You should try Funky in Flame runner on manual. If not, Funky Spear on automatic.
