On the evening that President Obama appears in New Jersey at a fundraiser for the re-election of Governor Jon Corzine, his Republican opponent, Chris Christie, appears on "The Situation Room," noting that once Obama leaves New Jersey on this night, the citizens know that Obama won't be running things if they vote Democratic on Election Day. "We're going to be stuck with Jon Corzine," he says.

Wolf Blitzer asks Christie if he describes himself as a "moderate or a conservative Republican." Christie responds that he is simply a Republican who cares about government having a lesser role, adding, "I'll leave the labeling to the pundits."

Christie also responds to an ad from the Corzine campaign painting his opponent as "throwing his weight around." "I'll let your audience in on a little secret, Wolf: I'm overweight," Christie tells Blitzer. I have struggled on and off with my weight for the last 30 years... That's the way it is."

  • And his approval rating continues to rise. 54% and climbing. Suck it Unions!

  • Am I the only one that is amazed they played almost the entire clip of Obama praising Corzine, and the entire clip of the ad criticizing Christie?

Does that look like liberal media bias to anyone else, or am I overreacting?

  • Clinton News Network

  • wow... what a biased interview.. I'm more impressed with Chris Christie for producing some great answers. Factual, Logical, well spoken, and none of this crap you get from other politicians trying to tear down other policies

  • How petty politicians (& the press) can be when they're met with real opposition.

  • @darwinkilledgod Yea, I agree... independent Think tanks release the most factually oriented reports. Its interesting that your choice of news was fox though? I think CNN has a liberal tone to it-but it is without a doubt less bias than fox...also, maybe its my liberal side kicking in-but the conservative movement tends to have more lunatic positions that are worth debunking

  • Orwell's conclusion was that you will only get the truth from third parties. My ideal source for news is something like Reason Magazine, or the Cato Institute, which release heavily documented reports. But usually I watch Fox and used to watch MSNBC until my cable dropped it (I moved). When they say things I find interesting I immediately hit the internet to fact check them.

  • @ihofaerefa That's a good question! I'm not one to complain too much about liberal bias (despite my highly voted comment above). I happen to prefer "fair" to "balanced." Ultimately the source for truth doesn't fall on a linear spectrum. George Orwell wrote a must-read paper called "Politics and the English Language" which really spells it out. I think left and right wing media are needed because I want to know what both think. But neither will give you the truth, just their own spins.

  • @darwinkilledgod Well, historically presidents get coverage on the media whenever they speak.

Ideally though, what does a news source look like?

  • @ihofaerefa I might be overreacting. But your explanation doesn't make sense... just because obama is president doesn't mean that you play an ad of him praising the person who is running against the person you're interviewing.

The question is, when they interviewed Corzine, did they play a full ad praising Christie and another full ad attacking Corzine? I suspect not. Fox might, but CNN wouldn't.

MSNBC is ridiculous, as is Fox, but CNN is pretty liberal based on surveys of their staff.

  • @darwinkilledgod you are overreacting....they are showing obama bc he is the president....and the interview is FOR chris christie, you foolish person....think about that for a moment.....they played those clips and let christie respond..... jesus, you are overreacting. Liberal media bias is overplayed (only msnbc is clearly liberal)....but its not saying much about fox news either
