Pinoy Recipe - Filipino Style Spaghetti Sauce

This spaghetti sauce is the Filipino version.

It is known for being sweet. In the Philippines, we would put banana ketchup and some sliced hotdogs on it and it will be a feast. Spaghetti is something that is always served during birthdays and other special occasions, in the Philippines at least. It's not something you can eat every day. I am talking about in our family. The reason I said that is because our budget for food has always been limited. And I grew up knowing that spaghetti is only for special occasions. In our neighborhood, if you see somebody cooking spaghetti, it's more likely that somebody is celebrating their birthday or whatever.

But here in the US, spaghetti is quite affordable for almost everybody. And just like in the Philippines, it's not something you eat everyday. The only difference is that here in the US, you eat spaghetti when you crave for it. And when you satisfied your craving, you forget about it.

Spaghetti sauce is very flexible. What I showed on the video was just the very basic. You can add a bunch of stuff on it. Whatever you can think of. You can add Italian seasoning, chopped mushroom, meatballs, hotdogs, anything that you can think of. I know someone who would put Cheez Whiz Pimiento instead of cheddar cheese, but that's her style and that's how she wants it. So yeah, just be creative and don't be afraid to experiment. If it doesn't come out good, then at least you know what to do next time.
