  • I love this, thanks for sharing it! I have never heard this version before, I used to have a 78 of HM Barnes and his Blue Ridge Ramblers on the Brunswick label, any chance of finding a copy to put on here? This is just great, I could listen to this music all day long!!

  • @GaryHultman : Old Town pre-dates even Galax in that part of the country, isn't that correct ?? I heard that said by one of the old timers who was featured in one of the two-album set entitled "Old Originals" .. dating from the late 1970s. I still possess & play this vinyl set to this day .. the albums are in mint condition, & are a true treasure to me. "Independence wasn't here ... Galax wasn't here .. the court was held at Old Town over there ..."

  • Great to finally hear a song from The Bogtrotters. Word has it that this old-time stringband was one of the most famous in & around the area of Galax, Va. Do you know if that's correct ?

  • Thank you kindly, I have loved this song since the first time I had heard it, I was 13 learned it at Old Town.

  • I wrote a whole thing but it got erased, but the gist of my message is fuck you. I know the people responsible for finding these recordings, and not even posting a link to where people can support rare finds like these isn't cool. At all. The audience is small I know, but the work of people to find these recordings and release should not in any way go unnoticed. Acknowledge your sources or you are doing a legitimate disservice to the old time community.

  • Thanks for uploading! It's great that this song isn't completely lost to time like a lot of the older tunes.

  • on the good foot ( I still say that )
