Cup Noodles and instant ramen noodles are a staple and classic of the culinary challenged, college students and people on a tight budget and/or short on time. They are universally recognized as a cheap and filling source of food and not to mention often tasty in its many varieties and forms. There are even cook books about what to do with your instant noodles for heaven's sake! But did you ever wonder where cup noodles and instant ramen came from? Who thought of these great inventions? Or how long have they been around?
Well head to Ikeda Osaka Japan, the home of instant noodles and find out! Visit the Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum and learn how Momofuku Ando first developed both instant ramen and cup noodle and how the world of instant noodles have changed over the decades. The museum is free to the public. If you are interested in making your own cup noodle it is only 300 yen or roughly $3.00 US. Or if you have more time and want more of a challenge head up stairs and learn how to make your own ramen noodles from scratch for 500 yen. Don't worry if you can't speak and understand Japanese very well there are English signs available giving basic instructions and some staff members speak at least a small amount of English.
