even the brothers chaps in the dvd commentary give no excuse for the voices.

That's because this toon is almost 9 years old. Of course voices are meant to sound completely different over such a long period of time.

The Cheat's Garfield costume is very incomplete! It lacks the mouth area, the ears and the tail. All The Cheat has are the eyes, the nose and a very accurate-looking Pooky (that's the name of the teddy bear).

Classic Homestar. I love Bubs' part of the story! I wonder if we'll ever see the Gremlin actually run? And where has the Goblin been lately. He should get his own cartoon.

Bubs is almost directly quoting a line from "Dazed and Confused" when he took his turn for the story!
