Video presentation created from the photos and videos I took during my volunteer work in Kenya during the summer of 2006. We will be returning to Kenya in the summer of 2007 to meet some specific needs of the population. We are also hoping to raise interest and awareness of the under-reported AIDS epidemic (especially among the children) and inadequate access to basic healthcare which exists for the people there. For example, in Nyanza province, where I did my work, the HIV infection rate among the local population is 60-70% - many of which are young children who are too young to understand what has happened to them. Many of these adults and children die without ever knowing they have the disease. It is estimated that there are over 900,000 AIDS orphans in Kenya. In the hospitals, many children are abandoned after they are born to HIV positive mothers. The hospitals lack supplies and funding to pay for their care, so many of these precious children are neglected to the point that they can't bend their joints or move any of their arms or legs. There is also a severe shortage of basic babycare supplies - bottles, blankets, etc. At Coast General Hospital in Mombassa, Kenya, I actually had to feed the infants there with regular glasses of baby formula. I hope this presentation touches your heart and inspires you to learn more about this terrible situation. If you have any questions or would like to find out how you can help, please feel free to contact me through my MySpace profile: http://www.myspace.com/justincorbin Keep us in your prayers as we return to do the work that Jesus has laid on our hearts to do. God Bless, Justin

  • If ever there were a time of need, it is now. If the peacemakers are to be blessed in the kingdom, they have to work in the fragments of those who would sieze power and kill to do so. So many love, share, and work for respectful democracy in Kenya. Pray for them. I worked in a hospital where Luo and Kikuyu work side by side.

  • I went with a group called Shield of Faith in 2003/2004, and they have people go sometimes, but I don't know when and all the details. I know that there is a team going to Ghana for 2 years soon. They have free training programs in Bend OR that last for 6 months. Let me know if you want more details.

  • Staticnetwork...do you have any info on short term visits to Kenya to help out...I can only make a 2 month commitment right now and most missions want a longer one

  • I know what you mean, I lived in a remote part of Kenya for a few months and even though life was harder I have a desire to go back.

  • Beautiful ....I visited Kenya in Oct of 2007 ...my heart aches to go back.
