@BeckhamRacing Ok, all I wanted is justification and that's reason enough. I'd place coordination training and strength endurance above pure strength but you've made a good case, I'll agree with you.

@BeckhamRacing plant themselves?? what speed stock cars reach? f1 cars can reach up to 185mph on straights and reach crazy speeds around corners. Infineon ohh....have you seen chinese gp course? now thats a hairpin corner! why has nascar never taken off in any other country? why is it that f1 has spread throughout the world, even into the usa. these drivers have only a helmet protecting their faces, yet they drive those cars at exceptional speed, with amazing precision because they have talent!

@NauticalDisaster "occasional arm and shoulder movements." HAHAHAHA.....you have no idea what you're talking about. Let's see...do everything you're doing on a soccer, but attach a small hose to your nose with a small amount of Co2 going into your body - THEN TELL ME IF YOU CAN PLAY SOCCER ON THE SAME LEVEL. That's what a driver of a stock car experiences. Again, you have no idea what you're talking about.
-
@NauticalDisaster When you're running 120 mph in on a 1/2 mile track with 33 degree banking in a pack of cars 2 feet apart, the G-forces on the driver is pretty significant. You are constantly steering - not just holding the wheel as if you're in a street car. Imagine having the extra G-Force on your body while trying to making THOUSANDS of steering corrections in a 100 lap race. Strength training is a MUST.

@BeckhamRacing Explain to me what use strength training is in racing, please. If you can justify it I'll agree with you, but at the moment I'm lost as to how it's of any use.

@95s10low35 You need to be constantly moving for 90 minutes in soccer, you need to be able to take hits on a regular basis from people a minimum of 220 pounds who can bench twice their weight in football, and you need to be able to run from end to end for basketball while taxing your glycolytic system.
To race you need to sit in a car and plantar flex your foot with occasional arm and shoulder movements. There is no athleticism required to sport race, especially NASCAR.

@BeckhamRacing oh right so drivers racing at over 185mph, in aluminium cars that are design for speed and can get ripped apart for the smallest of touches and with small protection for the driver himself is a tame sport??!! this "sport" is as you mentioned, just aggressive drivers in cars with roll cages and a hell of alot more protection then formula 1. sport is about talent behind the wheel, not who has the biggest balls!!
-
@ctsearraigh Tame - hahahhaha.....Formula 1 is for pansy boys with prima donna attitudes who are SCARED to even get next to another car. Heck, when a chick like Danika Patrick gets out of her Indy car and wants to fight another driver - that's more balls than most men! That's why she's transitioning to Nascar! HAHAHA....Formula 1.....the sport where men in skirts race.
and i suppose the courses are super scary and super mental, not just some course that goes around in a circle???!!!! unlike formula 1 which apparently is a "tame" sport with drivers expertly taking hairpin corners at speed these cars could probably hardly reach!

@ctsearraigh Dude - Danica Patrick found out first hand this year that driving a stock car is not that easy. It's not just about going around in a circle. Sure, these cars would plant themselves to the track if you put Formula 1 tires on them and added a wing as big as a 747. But, that's the beauty of it.....these are not just cars you ride in. Hairpin corners....good god, ever seen Infineon? How about Watkins Glen. Nascar races BOTH.
