Non-violent Greek activist arrested by Israeli Occupation

A non-violent Greek activist was arrested on Friday May 25, 2007, at a non-violent demonstration in the village of Artas, Bethlehem, Palestine. The demonstration was organized by Palestinians and joined by Israeli and international solidarity activists.

On Sunday, May 20, Israeli Occupation Forces uprooted 28 apricot and date trees in order to build a sewage system for the Illegal Israeli colony of Efrata. Israel is also continuing to build the Apartheid Wall right through the center of this village.

The Greek activist has been charged with "assault leading to injury" and "disrupting soldiers work," both of which are completely bogus.

This demonstration was non-violent. Not a single rock was thrown, yet the soldiers responded to the protesters with force.

@QUINTUSMAXIMUS UN resolutions 338 & 242 were put forth after the 67 war. Israel has accepted both but the Palestinian Arabs accepted 242 in 1994 after rejecting it for all those years. 338 calls for cessation of all hostilities and warfare. The Arabs have repeatedly broken this one despite accepting it.

@QUINTUSMAXIMUS 242 calls for Israel to give up territories it took in the 67 war for peace, basically a land for peace deal. Israel has given back 91% of this land for peace deal, mainly with Egypt. Egypt gave up the Gaza for a future Arab Palestinian state. Same with Jordan for the west bank, however there is no peace deal with other Arab states.

@125RTY Your response about it being turned into any normal refugee is rather vague. The people in the West Bank and Gaza are not refugees. That's one thing. The Palestinians accepted UN Resolution 242 and 338 i.e. the 1967 borders based on the resolution and East Jerusalem as its capital. Israel has so far refused the resolution, not the Palestinians. How would they turn the West Bank into nation when Israel insists on taking more and more land in the West Bank and won't apply 242 and 338

@QUINTUSMAXIMUS Than this issue should be treated like any other refugee issue. Settle these people with other Arabs of Jordan and west bank. Turn their so called refugee camps into cities and towns, that they are. If you really want to help real refugees you should be in Darfur or in India with the Tibetan refugees or in Somalia. Why go to west bank where these people refuse to live in peace with Jews and have no attempts to turn west bank into a real nation for the past 50 years.

There are UN resolutions regarding the lands taken in the 1967 War, and it has nothing to do with

religion. Trying to use religion to obfuscate the issues does nothing to shed light on what's happening

in the occupied territories. Darfur has no connection to Palestine anymore than something a New York Jew has to do with Israel necessarily.
