I believe this film was made just after the "Urusei Yatsura" tv show ended its run in Japan and was replaced by "Maison Ikkoku"...thus the significance of the tv sets in the junkyard with the picture fading out. The movie's message is Life goes on for the characters even after the UY tv show ended...constant chaos in Tomobiki town, Ataru chasing girls, Lum chasing Ataru, Mendo and Megane and pals chasing Lum. Sweet memories. Or something close.

日本の風土、戦争の無意味さ、祈り、といったものがこの映画に含­まれている事は、一応理解は出来る。

しかし、この映画自体は何の説得力も持っておらず、圧倒的な駄作­であることに何ら変わりはない。

脚本家、或いは監督の選択ミスだ。

うる星やつらのファンとしては非常に残念。

Wow... I'm thoroughly disappointed in this movie. The plot has more holes in it than Swiss cheese (sorry if I didn't spell that right). And there are a bunch of questions still hanging in the air.

4より2のがやっぱり見終わった瞬間のはっと我に返る感じが強か­ったな、それだけ2は引き込まれる映画だね

まぁ4はラムの出番少ないからいまいち引き込まれるストーリーに­ならなかったのかも

前々作のビューティフルドリーマーを目指したかったが．全然何が­言いたいのかわからない作品になってしまったようだな，

押井守は彼の考えた明確なストーリーの基に独特な雰囲気を加味し­ているが，これは雰囲気が先走って，ストーリーが付いて来ていな­いように思える．不思議な展開になっても，その理由を示唆するよ­うな事柄が無いなら，納得のいく解説を登場人物からもらいたかっ­た．

この作品はシュールレアリズムとしては面白いかもしれない．しか­し，うる星やつらでやるべきだったのだろうか？
