"Motorola (NYSE:MOT) asked a federal judge in Delaware to invalidate 11 Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) patents in Apple's patent dispute with HTC, according to a Fierce Wireless report.

The move intensifies the legal dispute over Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android operating system.

Motorola Mobility took the action in order to show that Apple's complaints filed against HTC in March do not apply to Motorola. Apple previously sued HTC claiming that the smartphone maker infringed on 20 of its patents.

SmarTrend is bullish on shares of Motorola and our subscribers were alerted to buy on April 12, 2010 at $7.42. The stock has risen 6.1% since the alert was issued."
