  • She is the epitome of cabaret dynamism!

  • Kay Thompson was the highest paid night club performer of her time. How wonderful to see this video. The quality of the video isn't good because the medium was in it's infancy. Still, you can see her movement, hear her and get a good impression of what she must have been like in person. She coached the greatest vocal talents, including Judy Garland. The camera work was sophisticated for 1954, showing you how highly she was thought of.

  • This lady was truly an awesome performer. Her song material and style fit perfectly with her abilities. I wished to hell I could've seen her perform on Broadway at the zentih of her career but this post gives a glimpse. I always heard she really packed in the audiences for her performances in night clubs. I could imagine watching her on stage was a fun filled evening.

  • Amazing! This is what I was hoping to find. You are great for posting this. I am finishing the new biography of Kay and this shows how truly amazing and one-of-akind she really was.

  • There won't be a whole lot of archival material of performer like this--it's a rarity. Instead of harping on the quality of this video you should try to appreciate is as historical documentation.

  • liza did this in her palace show

  • Just from the few clips I've seen of her on YT, she strikes me as a rather odd performer. Rather Gypsy Rose Lee, wouldn't you say?

  • @dannybex It has archival value

  • it's still better than not seeing it at all.

  • oh don't exaggerate.

Someone is simply accustomed to at least the usual standards of 1954 tv clips, and this falls way below. Simple fact.
